Ion torrent chip

Finally some Ion torrrent sequencing

NGS

I have the last years been working with seguences from various generation of Sanger, 454 and Illumina sequence reads. The improvements in read lengths and data amoutns have been dramatic. It is not longer a problem to generate enough sequences, especially for bacterial projects. I am therefore looking forward for the first batch of Ion torrent 316 chip reads that are supposed arrive soon.

Biosample

A custom data repository for biosamples

The emergence of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) in combination with a large collection of biosamples make it necessary to store metadata in some convenient way. There exist some free LIMS-type systems that potentially could fulfill some of the criterias. However none of them are really adapted to handle NGS data following the MIxS standard. My idea is to create a custom repository using Drupal that may store all metadata in a standardized way.
